Updating PDM to a new version

PDM finds new versions itself, verifies the file, and installs once you confirm. Your settings and download list are preserved.

Check manually

From the menu bar choose Help → Check for updates. PDM contacts the server and answers within seconds: either it offers a new version, or it reports that you are up to date, along with the last check time and your release channel.

2

Review what changed

When a new version exists, the update window shows your current and the new version side by side, with the release notes in your interface language and the package size before you commit to downloading.

3

Download and verify

Click Download update. Once received, the file's SHA-256 is computed and compared with the value the server published. On any mismatch the file is deleted and nothing is installed.

4

Install and restart

Press "Install and restart". PDM closes, a small window shows the installation progress, and PDM relaunches itself and confirms that the update completed.

Active downloads are paused before installation and resume from the same point afterwards, where the source server supports resuming.

Automatic checks

"Check for updates automatically" is on by default and checks about once a day. When there is nothing new it stays completely silent rather than interrupting you.

The Microsoft Store build does not update through this path — Windows updates it for you.
